Our client in the East Rand is looking for Mechanical Engineer to join the team from 1 February 2020
Duties and Responsibilities
You will provide expertise to the mechanical maintenance engineering teams to achieve the required goals and objectives.
You must have hands on technical experience with regards to bearing installations, hydraulic schematic, pump sizing and maintenance, roll maintenance, oil analysis on gearboxes.
You will be responsible for the maintenance of assets to ensure their maximum efficiency, performance, reliability, safety and availability. This includes reduction in mechanical engineering delay and delay to standard when applicable across all assets.
You will be responsible for carrying out proactive safety inspections and active monitoring.
Manage contracts and contractor control procedures and rules for the department.
Understand and adhere to environmental, legal and KCC statutory requirements.
Carry out root cause analyses on repeat defective equipment.
Execute and maintain effective planned and preventative maintenance for the plant and machinery.
Engage with Key stakeholders to ensure OHSAct, Performance Standards, etc. and other relevant legislation/procedures are applied and enforced.
The incumbent will be required to provide functional technical expertise and direction for the mechanical engineering teams responsible for the following: TMs , RFP, Effluent plant, J’s converting, KCP, logistics and other applicable assets.
The incumbent will ensure that the optimal cost is found in the examination, repair and testing of equipment on site.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, cost control of mechanical engineering/maintenance budgets, tactical and technical guidance for maintenance staff, technical investigations and failure analysis.
Desired Experience & Qualification
B.sc or B-eng Degree in Mechanical Engineering or B-tech Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
5 years’ experience in a plant maintenance/mechanical engineering/reliability engineering field. (preferably in pulp and paper or FMCG industry).
